Spain Atrys Health consolidates telemedicine world leader after the pandemic: "investment will play a key role” - The Spanish telemedicine and radiodiagnostic company, Atrys Health, is on its way to becoming a giant in a sector that is consolidating as one of the health areas with the greatest potential for growth in the world after the coronavirus pandemic.
Recently the company underpinned its presence in Latin america with the purchase of ITMS —signature leader in telemedicine in Chile, with presence in Colombia, Brazil and Peru, which closed the year 2019 with a turnover of 23.1 million euros— as well as the purchase of the manager of health services Axismed the Telefónica group by 10 million brazilian reals (approximately € 1.6 million at the current exchange rate).
” With the acquisition of ITMS we have established ourselves as the first Spanish-language telemedicine company and the fourth largest in the world, " said Santiago Torres, president of the company, in an interview with Business Insider Spain.

Before the pandemic, the global turnover of the telemedicine sector already expected to experience compound annual growth of more than 20%, he details. A figure that, he points out, is now estimated to be higher.
“With the arrival of COVID - 19 in Spain, we have been able to see how to have more advanced telemedicine techniques we would be able to apply technologies that would allow monitoring of low-risk patients in their homes and this decongest the emergencies and, more importantly, prevent contagion”, points out.

Torres highlights vaccine development techniques and diagnostics as two areas that will experience great growth in the aftermath of the pandemic. "Prevention will be of unprecedented importance, so innovation and the application of big data will both become more effective, and investment will play a key role in this," she says.
Some of the company's business lines, such as the Occupational Health area, were paralyzed during the first weeks of the health crisis, but he says they have managed to compensate for it thanks to their ability to react during the pandemic.
During the crisis, Atrys redirected its laboratory activity for PCR testing and antibody testing. Also his area of teleradiology has experienced a growth “by performing X-rays (X-rays) and chest CT to patients of COVID-19”, recognizes Torres.

Myth or reality: turning off Bluetooth will save you battery
It's no secret that all wireless technologies need power.
And, despite advances related to the use of Bluetooth, it is still quite common for people to think that turning off different wireless technologies will make your phone consume less battery.
But is it really necessary to turn off Bluetooth to save battery?
Below you will learn about how much energy you waste if you leave the Bluetooth on while not using it or how much battery is consumed when playing music over Bluetooth.
In this sense, in order to know how the use of Bluetooth affects battery life, Android Authority has analyzed 5 different smartphone models: the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus, the Huawei P40 Pro, the ZTE Axon 11, the Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro and the Realme X3 Superzoom.
After several tests, Android Authority noticed that leaving Bluetooth On consumed only 1.8% more battery compared to phones that had wireless technology turned off.
Over a period of 26 hours, on average, the selected devices consumed 49.4% of their battery with Bluetooth off. Meanwhile, phones that kept Bluetooth On consumed 51.2% of the charge.
So usually Bluetooth consumes less than 4% of the battery.
In this sense, leaving it off could add 10 to 15 minutes of additional time for a device that usually allows 5 hours of use.
However, the Huawei P40 Pro and the Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro showed a greater difference with the Bluetooth on and off, as it was 3%.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus and the Realme X3 Superzoom recorded a little less power consumption with the Bluetooth on, probably due to a margin of error, which highlights the little impact that Bluetooth has on battery life.
Currently, smartphones are programmed to, in a way, ignore wireless networks when they are not in use, which could explain the small difference between the battery consumption of a mobile phone that has the technology on with another that has it off.
That is, Bluetooth does not really affect the battery when left on but not used.
In the same way, Android Authority conducted a second Test in which they monitored video playback on different devices for 4 hours in a row.
Thus, they showed a similar difference in the discharge of the battery in the 5 devices.
The results concluded that playing a video, while keeping the Bluetooth on but not connected, increased power consumption by an average of 6.6%.
But there was a lot of variation between different smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus recorded exactly the same result with Bluetooth on and off. Meanwhile, the Realme X3 Superzoom was the most affected, as it recorded an extra 4% of battery discharge for 4 hours.
The reason for this discrepancy is probably due to hardware and software optimizations of smartphones.
In this sense, the Exynos chips of the Galaxy S20 Plus and the Kirin of the Huawei P40 Pro will use different radios than the other Snapdragon SoC phones.
Similarly, each variant of Android software probably has different algorithms for Bluetooth wake-up and pairing scan intervals, according to Android Authority.
Currently, most people who use Bluetooth is for purposes related to headphones.
According to Android Authority, audio playback over Bluetooth consumes essentially the same amount of power as audio playback over speakers or headphones with Bluetooth turned off.
On average, the devices analyzed recorded a 0.2% increase in power consumption when playing audio over Bluetooth.
However, the Galaxy S20 Plus and Poco F2 Pro did not record any noticeable difference in battery depletion over a 4-hour listening period.
This is because Bluetooth audio encoding algorithms work efficiently on digital signal processors (DSP) found within advanced smartphones, consuming very little power.
Similarly, the audio amplification circuits turn off when audio is played over Bluetooth, which, according to Android Authority, balances the power consumption of the Bluetooth wireless chip.
In fact, the higher you listen to music, the higher the energy savings.
The effectiveness of COVID-19 tracking applications being launched by many countries is conditioned by the number of people who decide to install them on their smartphones, Xataka explained.
