Hillary Clinton was born on October 26, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in a middle-class family and was raised in the United Methodist Church.
Clinton attended Wellesley College, where she majored in political science and graduated with high honors in 1969.
She then went on to attend Yale Law School, where she graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1973.

During her time at Wellesley College, Hillary Clinton was involved in student government and played a role in keeping the college from being embroiled in the student disruptions common to other colleges.
She was also named a Durant Scholar, the College’s highest academic honor, in 1969.

Hillary Clinton attended Yale Law School, where she graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1973. She was named one of the National Law Journal’s 100 most influential lawyers in America in 1988 and 1991.

In 1975, Hillary Clinton married her Yale classmate Bill Clinton, who would later become the 42nd President of the United States.
They have one daughter, Chelsea Clinton.
First Lady of the United States
When Bill Clinton became President in 1993, Hillary Clinton became First Lady of the United States. She wielded power and influence almost unprecedented for a first lady, and as head of the Task Force on National Health Care Reform, she proposed the first national health-care program in the U.S. but saw the initiative defeated.
She also published a weekly syndicated newspaper column titled "Talking It Over" from 1995 to 2000.
