Early Life and Education

Peter Obi attended Christ the King College in Onitsha for his secondary education and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree.
He also attended several prestigious institutions across the world, including Cambria University in the United Kingdom, Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Columbia Business School, London School of Economics, and the Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts.

Business Career

Peter Obi was a businessman before he ventured into politics and held leadership positions in some private establishments.
He spent some time in the corporate world before venturing into politics.

Government Roles

Peter Obi contested for governor in 2003 as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, but Chris Ngige was declared the winner of the election.
In 2006, the election of Chris Ngige was nullified, and Obi was declared the winner of the 2003 election, and he assumed office in March 2006.
He served as the Governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014.
He was also the Honorary Special Adviser to the President on Finance until May 2015 and a member of the Presidential Economic Management Team until May 2015.

Presidential

In May 2022, Peter Obi became the Labour Party candidate for President of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election, after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Controversies

In 2018, Peter Obi was accused of not paying taxes on his properties in the UK, which he denied.

Awards

Peter Obi received several awards and recognitions in and out of office, including the Golden Jubilee Award from the Catholic Diocese of Onitsha for outstanding contribution to quality healthcare delivery in St. Charles Borromeo Hospital in particular and Anambra State in general.
He was also awarded the Silver Bird Man of the Year in 2013, the Business Hallmark Newspaper Man of the Year in 2012, and the Golden Award on Prudence by the Methodist Church of Nigeria as the Most Financially Prudent Governor in Nigeria in 2012.
