After leaving TVN in 1995, Alipio Vera joined Canal 13, where he spent roughly two decades working on special reports and news programming. In 1989, he received the Hernán Olguín Maybeé National Science Journalism Prize. Later recognitions included the Carmen Puelma Journalism Prize and Clark Modet awards for his work sharing science, technology, innovation, and cultural knowledge with broad audiences.

These honors reflected the range of his career. He could report from a conflict zone, investigate social inequality, explain scientific developments, or explore Chilean traditions and landscapes. His later work emphasized Chile’s cultural and natural heritage. Programs such as A Orillas del Río, Historias que nos Reúnen, and Crónicas de la Patagonia showed his enduring curiosity. Even after decades in journalism, he continued traveling, observing, and finding stories that connected history, place, and community.
